FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The Red Sox are back in town, and a couple of players came into Southwest Florida with a bang.
A picture on Twitter shows a golf cart submerged in water hazard at a golf course. Boston Red Sox first baseman Travis Shaw tweeted it from their round of golf on Sunday, writing "When Mookie drives.....(And yes that is a golf cart)", referring to outfielder Mookie Betts.
Betts also took to Twitter to defend himself by writing "For the record, I didn't drive into the pond. It rolled in there. Just clearing that up."
According to the Boston Globe, Betts and fellow player Pat Light were able to retrieve their personal items from the cart, but their phones were dead.
