MARCO ISLAND, Fla. -- A Southwest Florida manatee is back where he belongs, in the open water. Florida Fish and Wildlife released a rescued manatee off the coast of Marco Island Tuesday.
The male manatee was rescued from Robert's Bay in Sarasota after suffering boat-related injuries.
He had been receiving treatment in Tampa for the last few weeks. But after some time, the manatee was deemed to be strong enough to venture out on his own.
