CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- Southwest Florida's first solar powered city is officially opening to the public this weekend.
On Saturday, developer Kitson & Partners will host a Founder's Day celebration for Babcock Ranch along State Road 31 in Charlotte County.
The community will eventually feature thousands of homes, roads, trails and schools, all powered by the sun.
People will begin moving in this year, but the city as a whole will likely take about 20 years to finish.
