A Fort Myers woman raising the alarm on an veterinary clinic she claims lost track of her dog.
"To hear your mother ball her eyes out for over an hour because I didn't bring him down. It's horrible, it's awful," said Ro.
Over the past ten years Toby became more than just a pet to Ro and her family.
"This dog is a therapy dog for my mother who has dementia, " said Ro. "My mother is a mess, as are we," added Ro as she talked about losing Toby.
The 13 year-old pure bred Shitzu has stuck by her mother's side as she battled the life shattering symptoms of dementia.
So when he slipped through a door left open by a bug exterminator, Ro wasted no time looking for him.
She printed out missing dog signs and posted them around her Fort Myers neighborhood, and after a week of searching she got good news.
Her neighbor, Betty found Toby about 2 blocks away from his home. Betty told Fox 4 she took Toby to the Affordable Animal Care Clinic after finding him.
She also showed Fox 4 pictures she took of the lost pooch during a 3-day stint he had at her home. Betty says she was asked to foster the pup, but later returned him because she was unable to pick up his medicine.
However, after seeing signs for the lost dog, Betty called to let the owner know the dog was safe.
"I saw the sign and I was thrilled. She's going to get her dog," said Betty. "What a nightmare."
Ro told Fox 4 she called the clinic and was told her dog wasn't there.
"She said that Betty has the dog and Betty does not have the dog," said Ro.
Toby has a micro chip, but Ro says the clinic told her his information didn't come up.
"I don't know where he is, I can't get an answer, the police can't get an answer. No one can get an answer," said Ro, as she fought back tears.
Fox 4 looked the Affordable Animal Care Clinic up on the Better Business Bureau.
The vet has an F rating, and a total of 8 complaints in the past 3 years.
On Yelp, they have a one star rating and over a dozen reviews from unsatisfied customers.
For Ro, the Clinic's track record online makes her even more fearful she may never see Toby again.
"I don't want to go there. I just want him home," said Ro.
