FORT MYERS BEACH, FL -The typical back up of traffic due to road construction on Estero Boulevard will be relieved temporarily. The ongoing project has been put on pause for the holiday weekend, and that could mean a slightly smoother drive around town.
Businesses on Fort Myers Beach are also glad to hear that the project will be halted for the busy tourist weekend.
"During our busy time, we already have an hour or two worth of traffic. Now add that to construction and it just becomes even worse," said Marieta Siskamani, an employee at Plaka Restaurant.
Instead, a warm and dry weather forecast is expected to draw large crowds at the beaches Christmas Day.
Visitors can expect many restaurants and businesses to be open for the holiday, while others may have abbreviated their hours for Christmas.
