FORT MYERS, Fla. -- During Monday night's meeting, the Fort Myers City Council approved the contract for the city's new police chief.
Derrick Diggs will start his new position on August 16th.
In his contract, Diggs will live within city limits. He also has a $140,000 salary over three years.
Diggs previously served as police chief of Toledo, Ohio from 2011 through 2014.
