Ex-gymnastics coach charged with luring a child

A Collier County man is facing charges of luring a child for sex. Deputies say Moises Renobato, 25, is also accused of sending sexually graphic images through Instagram to a minor.

According to Renobato's arrest report, he worked as a gymnastics coach, but was fired for inappropriate communications with girls who attended his place of employment. The report says that someone close to that situation told a detective with the Sheriff's Office about the reasons for the firing.

Based on that tip, a detective engaged Renobato in an online chat using Instagram, with Renobato given the impression he was communicating with a 13-year-old girl.

During the chat, the report states that Renobato told the officer in disguise that he wanted to have sex with her, and sent a nude photo of himself showing his genitals.

Renobato then told the officer in disguise that he wanted to meet with her, to teach her how to do various sex acts. He was led to believe the 13-year-old was skipping school Tuesday morning to meet him behind a shopping plaza, and to then go somewhere else for sex.

But when Renobato rolled up in a taxi at the agreed time and place, detectives moved in and arrested him. He was charged with using a computer to lure a child, traveling to meet a minor for sex, and sending a nude photo to a minor.

The arrest report states Renobato told detectives that when he was fired as a gymnastics coach for inappropriate conversations with a young girl, it was someone else using his Instagram account.

At his first court appearance Wednesday, a judge set Renobato's bond at $150,000. His next court date is June 20.
