It's been two weeks since Marco Island City Manager Roger Hernstadt abruptly resigned, but he still may have a future with the city.
The city already has to pay Hernstadt $98,000 until July 6th, when his contract is up. Hernstadt is asking the council to stay on as a consultant and make $115,000. He also wants to keep a city issued I-pad, even though he is no longer a city employee.
"I think Roger is divisive, I don't think he is good for the city, and I think it is time to find a new city manager," said resident Bill Harris.
But some feel the council forced Hernstadt to resign because it didn't see eye to eye with him.
"I know there were differences, and he's not perfect, but I was hoping you could roll up your sleeves and say OK, let's work together," one resident told council.
City Council tabled the compensation discussion and will take it up at a later date.
