FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) - Florida Gulf Coast University has received a record $10 million donation.
The Fort Myers university announced that textbook author and educator Elaine Marieb made the donation, the largest by an individual in the school's 26-year history.
The donation will be made over a five-year period and will be used to create and support health clinics, faculty development and scholarships.
Marieb also gave $5 million to the school in 2012. The 14,000 student university is renaming its college of health and human services after her.
She has published 13 anatomy and physiology text books.
