FORT MYERS NEWS-PRESS, Fla. (AP) - Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers plans to reimburse future graduates a year's tuition if they land jobs within six months of graduation.

Fort Myers News-Press (newspr.es/1WDTXNI) reports the school will become the first university to adopt the new initiative by Gov. Rick Scott. The governor hopes to grow the economy by encouraging universities to push graduates into the workforce soon after graduation.

Florida Gulf Coast University President Wilson Bradshaw says his school will refund the freshmen year tuition of graduates who find a job within six months of graduating. The incentive would mean about $6,000 in reimbursed fees for most graduates.
