Police arrested a man after receiving  information from the Florida Department of Children and Families of a possible child abuse incident that occurred within the city of Fort Myers, Friday.

Detectives obtained a search warrant and were able to recover evidence that supported the investigation.

At approximately 10:48 p.m., police arrested Jhonson Benel, 37. Benel is being charged with one count of aggravated child abuse and two counts of child neglect.

Police say the details of this case is too brutal and disturbing to be released.

Thanks to the diligent work of our investigators, uniformed officers and our partnership with DCF, Benel was quickly apprehended and will now be held accountable for his abusive actions.  But, most importantly, the victims in this case can begin living the peaceful life they deserve," Lt. Jay Rodriguez, Fort Myers Police Department.
