LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Four in your corner uncovering new details explaining why the Lee County School District fired a Cape Coral High School math teacher and coach.
It turns out, a recent complaint about Douglas Dingerson from a female student led investigators to take a second look at another incident from 2009.
A 246 page document from the Lee County School District paints math teacher Douglas Dingerson as someone who made inappropriate sexual comments and emotionally scarred two young women.
On the first day of school this year, the parents of a female student filed a sexual harassment complaint against Dingerson, who also served as the teen's track coach.
In the report, the student claimed Dingerson behaved inappropriately.
*Making comments about "50 Shades of Grey"
*Saying he "enjoyed watching people in pain."
*Saying "you're just my type... too bad you're too young."
*And making a "mmmm... " sound.
While there was no direct sexual conduct... "the girl stated she was 'concerned for her safety and thinks Mr. Dingerson is going to rape her."
The investigator noted the student demonstrating "fear, trembling, crying and her body movements mirrored those of someone in extreme fear."
The incident prompted investigators to review an earlier case from 2009 involving Dingerson.
A Cape Coral police report from October 2009 states Dingerson and an 18 year old girl were caught in a state of undress inside a car with the seats folded down on a driveway of a vacant house.
FOX 4 News doesn't have records to explain what the teen told investigators about that night. But we do know the district went back to that woman after this second allegation.
Looking back she says "she now knows she was groomed and manipulated by Dingerson."
The woman reported "multiple instances of Mr. Dingerson engaging in inappropriate conversation and interactions that ultimately led to a sexual relationship."
Phone records document a relationship outside of school while she was still a student.
She told investigators she was "emotionally and financially dependent on Mr. Dingerson. Mr. Dingerson used this imbalance of power to 'coerce' her into having sex with (her) on 6/8/09, two days after her graduation and three days after her 18th birthday."
She described his behavior as "predatory."
The girl went on to tell investigators that "she harbored guilt for years, wondering if others would be harmed and stated it there's another girl , then I would speak more about it."
Tuesday board members ultimately decided to terminate him immediately.
It's important to note Dingerson is not facing any criminal charges.
He was not available for comment.
