NAPLES, Fla. -- A sheriff's deputy is on leave, accused of driving drunk while on the job. The Collier County corporal also reportedly crashed his patrol car near the intersection of Collier Boulevard and Pine Ridge Road near the Golden Gate area of Naples.
The DUI reportedly took place just Monday afternoon. The deputy, in his patrol car, hit another car that was approaching the intersection. Fortunately no one was injured in the crash.
Now the Collier County Sheriff's Office is confirming that Corporal Scott Russell is on leave Tuesday morning. Investigators on the scene said that after the crash they noticed Russell had slurred speech and delayed answers to questions. They also say he refused to take a field sobriety test and was arrested.
