COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. - Investigators with the Collier County Sheriff's Office now confirm that two deceased bodies were found at the scene of a burned vehicle in Golden Gate Estates.

The vehicle was found at the dead end of 20th Avenue NW around 7:30 a.m.

It is unclear at this time exactly who or what was found in the vehicle.

"I was feeding my horses around 7 o'clock, and I heard some gunshots," said Ray Merrill, who lives on 20th Avenue NW. "Out in the Estates, it's not too uncommon to hear that, but at seven in the morning, I thought it was a bit odd."

"Then about 15 minutes later, I saw fire engines and cops go down there," Merrill added.

Crime scene technicians spent hours at the scene gathering evidence and processing the scene. Investigators have not yet confirmed how the two died, and their identities have not been released.

"There are cars that at times shouldn't be at the end of the street," said neighbor Glenda Wood. "There's evidence that maybe there's drinking and drugs and things going on."

Wood said she isn't shocked by anything any more - not even a burned-out vehicle where two bodies were found in her own neighborhood.

"There is no place where you're immune to some of the things that plague our society," Wood said.
