CAPE CORAL, FLA.- A Cape Coral city councilman wants to bring ZombiCon to Southwest Florida's largest city.
Richard Leon told Fox 4 he wants ZombiCon to come to Cape Coral.
"Cape Coral offers a good experience where we can have a fun and safe venue."
His announcement coming one day after Fort Myers City Council voted to stop hosting event in its downtown area, saying it was too becoming too big and too expensive.
Fort Myers Council made that call in the shadow of a tragedy at this year's ZombiCon- a shooting that left one person dead, and six others hurt. The shooter's yet to be arrested.
Organizers are looking for a new place to hold it, but spokeswoman Angeli Chin sounded optimistic;
"All we can say at this time is just to stay tuned and we will keep everybody apprised as more things develop."
Councilman Leon told Fox 4 he has plans to talk to ZombiCon organizers in January. Then he would run it by city council.
