LEE COUNTY, FLA — 160.
That's how many complaints state officials say they've gotten so far, about restaurants breaking the rules as our state reopens.

But at a press conference Tuesday, the governor also praised thousands of others out there, working hard to keep folks safe.

"I will say that most of the folks have done a great job, most of the citizens who have gone in exercising the appropriate restraint," said Governor Ron DeSantis

Right now those businesses can have indoor dining at 50 percent capacity, seat people at bars and keep groups to 10 or less, among other things.

Restaurant owners like Jay Johnson at Bubba's Roadhouse & Saloon in Cape Coral say it's a tall order to fill as they try to keep everyone safe, while also keeping their business open.

"We've had some nights where I spend my night counting people in the building. We've had people tell people they have to wait outside. We want to make sure that we maintain an environment that has that 50 percent occupancy and nothing past it," said Johnson.

For him, he says the key is knowing the regulations backwards and forwards and encouraging guests to do what makes them most comfortable, while still supporting local businesses.

"If you're not comfortable going to a restaurant don't. Stay home, order delivery, order take out, have someone pick up the food for you," said Johnson.

It's something that the owners at The Mix Italian ZGrill in Fort Myers say they're seeing as well.

"It's been hard, it really has been hard," said Nazik Anton.

Anton says they've taken all of the appropriate precautions but say they're struggling to convince some people that it's okay to eat out.

"It's getting them out that's the problem. You know they're telling you to go out and frequent your local businesses but at the same time stay safe, stay home," said Anton.

They are also encouraging folks to, at the very least, try a takeout option to support local restaurants like theirs.
