SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. — Sarasota County announced it will allow those 18 years of age or older to pre-register for a COVID vaccine.

However, they will only provide account numbers to those who are currently eligible under state guidelines.

Governor DeSantis's latest order allows Floridians 50 and older to be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Department of Health in Sarasota County with the assistance of the Sarasota County Government launched an updated COVID-19 vaccine registration sign-up.

Those who are registered through the current sign-up (individuals over the age of 65 or frontline healthcare workers), do not need to register again.

If you created an account before you become eligible, you will need to sign up through the updated system, and the current account number assigned to your account, which was an automated system feature, will not follow you to your new registration.

As state guidelines continue to be updated and more accounts become eligible, these accounts will then be assigned a number in the queue within their priority group.

The appointments will continue to be scheduled based on the number in the queue.

The county says it’s beneficial for all age groups to register early even though they may not receive a number until they become eligible.
