NAPLES, Fla. — Governor Ron DeSantis announced today 16 Publix locations in Collier County will now be vaccinating those eligible for the Covid 19 vaccine.
“ I registered this morning, on Publix.com, and tomorrow I will get my vaccination,” said Mario Micheli, registered for Covid - 19 vaccine at Publix.
A sense of relief Mario Micheli says he is feeling knowing that Publix will now carry the Covid 19 vaccine.
16 Publix locations in Collier County will be vaccinating healthcare workers who have direct patient contact and those who are 65 and older. The governor says thousands more can receive the Moderna vaccine.
“So we think this is a good way to get this into communities for seniors, not every place has as many hospitals doing this as others. The results speak for themselves we have more seniors that have been given shots by far than any other state. As of today, this morning's report 60 % of all shots in the state have got to the elderly,” said Governor DeSantis.
The vaccines are only available by appointment at this time and Micheli tells Fox 4 he acted fast after seeing the link available online this morning.
“ I went online this morning and I realized it was there, so I put my name on first, and my wife and we both get ours tomorrow,” said Micheli.
All vaccine appointments are full but you can still visit the website at publix.com/covidvaccinewhere you will find more information on eligibility and what you need to know before getting yours.
