Condo Project in Downtown Ft. Myers under review

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- City council in Ft. Myers will be holding a special meeting today to focus on the high-rise condo project called The Vue. Developers want to build it on the western border of Centennial Park.

Developers have been trying to get the project passed for more than ten years and in November the city's planning board finally approved it.

But many residents are concerned with it's location. "The children that come to this park and play are going to be right on the edge of the development," said resident Rodger Spencer. "The plans that we've seen to date have very little to no outside parking and we don't believe the inside parking is planned appropriately."

Concerns have also come up about the river view being obstructed and the park being shrouded in the building's shade. The 18-story building would have 133 units and the developer has said in the past that they would have a commercial space and public parking,

The city council meeting will take place Tuesday at 5:15PM.
