A woman charged in the 2014 death of her live in boyfriend appeared in a Collier County courtroom Wednesday.
Lisa Troemner is facing 2nd degree murder charges in the stabbing death of her boyfriend Trevor Smith on December 2nd, 2014.
Prosecutors say Troemner stabbed Smith in the neck after an argument in their Marco Island apartment. She walked to a 7-11 on Bald Eagle drive covered in blood, where she confessed to the clerk.
The defense and prosecution agreed a likely start date for the trial could be in late December or early January. Troemner's attorney Don Day told the judge his client was being evaluated by doctors.
"I am concerned that during jury selection we fill the room with 60 people, that someone tells the story about their mother or friend that was killed in a domestic violence case, we've tainted all 60 jurors," said Day.
More than a dozen of Trevor Smith's family and friends packed the courtroom, some wearing a button with a picture of Trevor.
They told Fox 4, they are still grieving over Trevor's murder and did not want to talk on camera.
Troemner is being held in the Collier County jail.
