NAPLES, Fla. - Pope Francis chimed in with his own thoughts on presidential candidate Donald Trump.
"A person who thinks only about building walls wherever they may be located and not building bridges is not a Christian," said the Pope. "This man is not a Christian if he has said things like that."
Donald trump was not afraid to fire back at the Pope for calling out the Republican presidential front runner for his stance on immigration.
"If and when the Vatican is attacked by ISIS, which as everyone knows is ISIS's ultimate trophy. i can you promise you the pope would have only wished and prayed that Donald Trump would've been president," said Trump.
One of America's top leaders in the Catholic Church happened to be in Naples when this holy war of words broke out.
Cardinal Timothy Dolan gave the pope his blessing.
"All the Holy Father is trying to do is what I hear so many American people saying, 'Can we bring some civility? Can we bring some return to basic virtue and morality, goodness and decency'," said the Cardinal.
But Trump was more upset about the Pope questioning his faith.
"For a religious leader to question a person's faith is disgraceful," said Trump.
Cardinal Dolan had a more relaxed attitude about the exchange.
"The holy father knows a bit more about grace than Donald Trump would."
Trump did get some support today from his rivals in the Republican Presidential Primary. Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio said today, the president's most important job is to keep the American people safe.
