A Charlotte County child was airlifted to a Tampa area hospital Friday after being struck by a car just before noon in Punta Gorda.
Investigators say the accident happened at the intersection of Rampart Blvd. and Capricorn Blvd. in the Deep Creek area.
When responders arrived to the scene, they stabilized the pre-teen boy and prepared him for a medical flight to All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg.
Investigators say the child suffered injuries to a leg. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
