CAPE CORAL, Fla. - As many families come to grips with the devastation the tornado has caused to their homes and neighborhoods some are also desperately searching for their beloved pets.

Dozens of pets were lost in the midst of Saturday night's weather, and as a result several organizations, including Lee County Domestic Animal Services are making an effort to reconnect these missing animals with their owners.

Mack Young, director of the Lee Animal Shelter says, "one lady she was so thankful.  Her whole home was demolished by the tornado and she was able to get her dog from us. That was a good thing, to reunite the animal with the owner."

The Lee County Animal Shelter was expecting many more animals. but with Facebook, they've noticed the community has created a strong safety net and that's really helped with keeping pets and their owners connected in the midst of this natural disaster.
