Cape Coral Mayor Marni Sawicki has ended her legal fight for a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, who is a Cape Coral firefighter.
Sawicki's attorney Friday issued a statement indicating his client and Kenneth Retzer have reached a resolution to the issues between them that requires no further involvement from the Courts.
Sawicki has filed a Notice of Voluntary Dismissal and her attorney says she will have no further comment on the matter.
The case made headlines earlier this month when Sawicki's petition indicated she had to miss a city council meeting over fears that Retzer would attempt to confront her there. She had also claimed she's received muliple threats of bodily harm.
Sawicki claimed she and Retzer had been dating off and on for the past three years, but after their last break-up she claimed Retzer sent her hundreds of texts to her each day and even threatened to destroy her.
Fox 4 reached out to the Cape Coral Fire Department for a statement. A spokesperson indicated Lt. Retzer is not facing any disciplinary action internally and his personnel file revealed only two reprimands dating back to 1991.
