LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- The City of Cape Coral will not be getting money from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, better known as FEMA, as it recovers from that EF-2 tornado that swept through the city two weeks ago.
Overall, more than 170 buildings and yards were damaged by the storm, but officials say damage doesn't meet the disaster requirement for help from FEMA.
However, the city has set aside more than $1 million for recovery, and city leaders say they're expecting a favorable recommendation from the Small Business Administration, which lends money to homeowners and businesses for disaster-related repairs.
