Council member Rana Erbrick will be running for Cape Coral Mayor. During an on-camera interview with Four In Your Corner, Erbrick says the deciding moment for her was right after Monday night's meeting she described as "out of line."
She says the current mayor, Marni Sawicki has demonstrated she does not working towards the city's best interest.
"It's become pretty apparent in the last few months, we need someone that can check their ego at the door," Erbrick says. "I think it's time someone steps up that the voters know they can trust."
Erbrick says a number of people have approached her the past eight months asking her to run for the position.
"We need that cool-head. We need that person that can facilitate and not destroy Cape Coral," she said. "We're going to make sure Cape Coral is great again."
Erbrick says there are pretty big decisions the city will have to make, including the LCEC franchise agreement that would affect rate payers. She also says the focus of the council needs to be on economic development and diversity to look at can be done to attract businesses to make the Cape their home.
