SANIBEL ISLAND, Fla. -- A viewer shared these pictures with Fox 4, showing dirty water along Sanibel Island.
The pictures were taken Sunday morning in front of a lighthouse.
A steady flow of water releases from Lake Okeechobee into the Caloosahatchee and St. Lucie rivers has been ongoing most of the year, but has increased in recent weeks, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
These pictures come just days after Hurricane Matthew made its way along the coast of Florida.
