BLACK FRIDAY -- Nearly half of Americans are planning on going Black Friday shopping this year.
If you are headed out, be aware of your surroundings as thieves are looking to turn unawawre shoppers into Black Friday victims.
To counter this, the Fort Myers Police are offering shoppers a few tips to stay safe.
- Shop with other people. There is safety in numbers.
- Park in well lit areas.
- Don't leave packages or valuables in your car. Lock them in your trunk or take them home.
- Don't buy more than you can carry to your car in one trip.
