LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- After nearly four years on the run, a Lee County man accused of Lewd and Lascivious Molestation of a Child has been taken into custody in Nicaragua.
75-year-old Nelson Sanderson fled the country after the accusations came to light in July, 2012. An arrest warrant was issued after he was accused of "performing extremely repulsive acts on a child" between July 2010 and June 2012.
Sanderson was initially thought to have fled to Costa Rica before moving to Grenada, Nicaragua.
The U.S. Marshals Task Force in Miami is bringing Sanderson back to the United States, where he will ultimately return to Lee County to face a judge.
If convicted of the charges, Sanderson will be facing two life felony sentences.
