A new AAA study says hands-free devices do not necessarily make driving free from danger.
The Automobile Club studied drivers using voice-activated systems that either were on their smartphones or built into their vehicles.
The results showed that drivers were still mentally distracted up to 27 seconds after they completed a voice command or a call.
AAA says vehicle manufacturers need to design simpler systems and drivers need to simply wait until they get to their destination before worrying about their phones.
