7-hour standoff ends with arrest in Englewood

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- An Englewood man was arrested Thursday following an hour-long standoff that began with a domestic disturbance.

51-year-old James Moore IV is facing charges of Aggravated Battery with a Weapon and Kidnapping.

According to Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to calls of a disturbance between a man and woman around 10:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of Loma Lane in Englewood.

The woman had fled the home before deputies arrived, but Moore was armed with a handgun and refused to comply with orders to exit the house.

Moore later surrendered to authorities at 6:10 p.m.

He was arrested and taken to Charlotte County Jail.
