LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. -- 29-year-old Keekee Shanks was killed on impact after getting hit by a car early Sunday morning. The driver has yet to be known and is leaving the family wanting answers.

"Someone hit her and left for dead. And that’s not right," said Tiana Larry, Keekee's oldest sister.

The family tells Fox 4 the last person to see Keekee was her ex-boyfriend. Keekee was at his residence before she died.

"She got into an argument with him. Shortly after she reached out to [her best friend] to come and get her," explained Larry. "But when a friend tried to call her back she didn't answer."

Larry has no leads on who the suspected driver could be, but says she hasn't heard from or seen Keekee's ex-boyfriend since. She filed a missing person's report for her baby sister. She says it was unlike Keekee to not communicate with family or friends for extended periods of time.

"We communicate. We always do. It wasn't like her not to be heard from or not to post, you know, on social media," Larry assured. "We found out last night when the detective came over… after I called.”

But other families members, including Keekee's mother, find out about Keekee by turning on the news.

“When the story came out that it was a woman… she kind of had a strong sense, like that might be my baby," said Corey Johnson, Keekee's cousin.

While the family waits for the official autopsy to be released, they continue to dig for more clues. Larry says they won't stop searching for answers until they receive justice.

“Be a man or woman about it. Whoever you are… and just confess.”

If you or someone you know has information on pertaining to Keekee's case, call the Lee County Sheriff's department at (239) 477-1000.
