UPDATE**
Welsey's father said his son was under a lot of pressure because Welsey Prophet Sauveur got in some trouble with the law the day before the crash.
Just moments before the crash, his dad says Welsey out of nowhere...grabbed his father’s car keys, ran out the back door of their home and took off!
Luckily no one was hurt and the boy's father says thankfully that was the case. Sheriff deputies have not confirmed that Welsey was the driver killed in the crash.
School officials said they have to make sure the building is safe and evaluate the extent of the damage before classes can resume.
A 17-year-old was killed in a crash at the Evangelical Christian School in Fort Myers on Beacon Boulevard.
Wesley Prophet Sauvuer died Wednesday afternoon. Witnesses estimate the car was traveling 100 miles per hour when it jumped a ramp two feet high and crashed into the building.
One teacher says she was packing up her things when it struck right behind her.
4 In Your Corner spoke with Sauvuver's father, who says his son stole his car. He said, "It's sad this is the way he ends his life. I didn't want it to happen like this. There's not much more we can do. I'm just happy that his life is the only life that was taken and not any children or any school employee or any bystander."
Students were on school for sports practice at the time of the crash.
Sauvuver's father says the boy struggled with drugs and had been in trouble the days before the crash.
Evangelical Christian School will be closed Thursday.
