2 Charlotte County men indicted on drug charges

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- Federal agents have arrested two Charlotte County men on suspicion of distributing methamphetamine throughout the area.

According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, their Narcotics Unit and the DEA Fort Myers resident office conducted a lengthy Narcotics investigation going back to 2014 on Bradley Wegert.

They say Wegert is responsible for multi pound quantities of Methamphetamine that was being distributed throughout Charlotte and surrounding counties.

Trae Patten also reportedly assisted Wegert in receiving Methamphetamine and used surveillance and other counter surveillance to deter law enforcement.

The DEA and Charlotte County Sheriff's Office successfully completed search warrants on homes and cell phones which provided probable cause that Wegert and Patten were involved in possessing and selling Methamphetamine.

Last week, a Federal Grand Jury indicted Wegert and Patten on conspiring with the intent to distribute Methamphetamine, a Schedule One Controlled Substance.  A further investigation is being investigated by the DEA and Charlotte County Sheriff's Office in reference to other associates involved in narcotics dealings.

Anyone with knowledge of illegal drug activity is asked to please call the CCSO Narcotics Unit at 941-575-2157, or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
