One person is dead after crashing into a fence on Hammond Avenue in Port Charlotte.

The single vehicle crash happened before 6 p.m. Saturday.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, 29-year-old Charles Sorrentino was driving a 2005 Mercedes SLK350 south on Orlando Boulevard and turning left onto Hammond Avenue when he lost control.

He then collided with a fence on the property of 119 Allworthy Street, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
