FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. -- There's a new top sand sculptor in town.
John Gowdy from Italy won first place in the Master Sculptor Solo Division this weekend at the 31st Annual Sand Sculpting Championship competition in Fort Myers Beach.
He won with a piece called "A Quote by Albert Einstein".
But the competition is not over yet. The 14 completed Solo Division Sculptures will be on display at the event for the remaining 7 days with the Advanced Amateur and Doubles Division competitions taking place this week.

Sculptors come from across the globe to compete in Fort Myers Beach every November.
Visitors can attend every day through Sunday from 10 a.m. through 5 p.m.
