Naples craft brewery, Bone Hook Brewing Company, will hold a unique competition Saturday, July 22. They're calling on home brewers to submit their work, and the beer judged to be the best, will be brewed at Bone Hook.
"A lot of these home brewers, from what I've tasted, they're brewing beer that tastes just as good as anything professionally made," Bone Hook Brewmaster, Josh Deitner says.
Deitner says home brewing has been part of American life for generations. But as home brewers get better access to equipment and ingredients, not to mention best practices, their beer is getting better.
"There's a lot of information out there these days," he says. "There's a lot of podcasts and websites and all kinds of stuff."
The beers submitted in this competition will all be Porters. A panel of judges will choose the best, and announce the winner at 3pm. Bone Hook and the winner will then work out a schedule to produce the winning beer together.
