The fire flared up Wednesday in the 2000 block of Southwest 3rd Avenue, between Skyline Boulevard and Santa Barbara Boulevard.
It started in a vacant lot. Neighbors called 911, after trying to put it out themselves, but their hose wouldn't reach the flames.
