FORT MYERS, Fla. — Fort Myers Police responded to an incident Code Enforcement reported about overcrowding in a Fort Myers residence.
When Code Enforcement responded to an anonymous complaint on Lucille Avenue, they found more than a dozen people.
Code Enforcement found eight children, ages ranging from two months to 16 years old and an elderly woman.
After investigating further, they found trash, junk, yard overgrowth, exterior disrepair, rodent infestation, unsanitary food preparation areas, non-working plumbing.
Residential rental dwellings in the city have an occupancy maximum of five family members or four unrelated individuals.
Fort Myers Police also seized fentanyl patches found in the residence.
The investigation is still ongoing.
