Student hit by a car outside Lemon Bay High is OK; no one will be charged

UPDATE 2:38 p.m.:

The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office said the 14-year-old girl is expected to be OK. They will be released from the hospital, if they haven't already, the sheriff's office told Fox 4.

Deputies said there is no criminal element to the crash and charges will not be filed.

ORIGINAL STORY:

The Englewood Fire Department said a 14-year-old girl has been airlifted to a hospital following a crash in front of Lemon Bay High School.

The department said the crash happened around 7AM and involved two students - one in a car and one on a bicycle.

Englewood Firefighters said they had to lift the child from underneath the car.

The sheriff's office said the bicyclist was alert and conscious, however, the incident is still being actively investigated.
