CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — The city of Punta Gorda is taking extra steps to help protect the community.
The city is installing storm booms in drains throughout the community to help keep the waterways clean.
The booms filter out oils, and other elements that wash into the drains from roadways.
Normally the booms are changed out twice a year but because of Hurricane Ian, there has been significantly more debris.
