COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.-- 7-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson spent time earlier this week in Southwest Florida helping those affected by Hurricane Irma.

Johnson was at two Lowe's home improvement stores in Naples.

He was there to boost morale to employees. He also joined volunteers to clean up debris.

Johnson helped spearhead the Hendrick Relief Fund which supports victims of Hurricane Irma and Harvey.

"I think we take a lot of things for granted as life goes on, we get stuck in our own little bubble and our own little space and to experience this today has taken me out of mind and helps me appreciate things far more," Johnson said.

He also helped spearhead the Hendrick Relief Fund, which supports victims of Hurricane Harvey and Irma.

He drives the number 48 Chevrolet SS. Lowe's is one Johnson's sponsors.
