He's not old enough to vote, or drive, but Eamon McDermott is old enough to worry about the dead fish and red tide.

The problem bothered him so much, he sent a letter to President Trump about it.

The letter said: "Mr. President, please help the Dolphins, Fish and Turtles."

"I'm not sure who brought it up first, but someone said we should write the president.  Eamon had crayons and a piece of paper, and said I'll write the president," said Eamon's mother Lisa Senters-McDermott.

The family was at dinner at Cozmo's pizzeria in Naples when the idea came up.  Eamon wrote the letter in crayon on the back of a pizza menu and sent it to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

"We helped him spell out the words, and we wrote the president, we mailed it," said Lisa.

Eamon is hoping the colorful letter stands out from the hundreds of others that land on President Trump's desk.

"Because I wanted the animals to survive," said Eamon.

An aspiring swimmer and basketball player, Eamon's mom isn't surprised her son is passionate and determined to solve the problem.

"He really is very empathetic, we have two animals he loves animals and he was very, very sad about the sea turtles."

The McDermott's are still waiting for a response from the president.
