FORT MYERS, Fla. - Brown water in Sanibel is cause for concern with local marine biologists.

The heavy rains, cold temperature drops and large releases form Lake Okeechobee have put a lot of stress on local marine life.

The brown water is cutting off light to the sea grass beds and its reducing the salinity of the water which could harm the oyster beds as well.

The fresh water releases are 10 times the normal amount according to Sanibel marine biologists.
