One man is behind bars and another is in the hospital after a stolen boat incident in Marco Island.

Police responded to Caxambas Pass Sunday afternoon after a boat crashed.  Investigators couldn't say how it happened, but they arrested 26-year-old Andrew Derwin.

A passenger on the boat, 28-year-old Nicholas Stolinas was suffered serious injuries after coming into contact with the 23-foot boat's propeller.

According police records, Derwin has a lengthy record in Marco Island, including arrests in 2010 for grand theft and forgery, and time served for reckless driving in 2008.

A spokesman for the police department says Derwin's father owns Marco Island Dental Care on Collier Boulevard.  We spotted the same logo on a vehicle parked at a home on Scott Drive.

We asked a man who came into the driveway briefly if Derwin lived there he said: "I don't know, I think so."

The home is located right next to the winter home of another notable dentist, Dr. Walter Palmer.

He's the Minnesota man who drew outrage after killing beloved African lion Cecil last year.
