FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Several fire crews from South Trail Fire and Rescue responded to a structure fire with a fatality Tuesday morning in a Fort Myers neighborhood.

The call came in shortly after 11am in the 6400 block of Scott Lane.  That's in the area just north of Daniels Parkway near Six Mile Cypress Parkway.

Fire officials say one person died in the fire, which destroyed a home and a neighbor told Fox 4 the victim is Tammy Bissonnette.

"She was a very sweet lady to my wife, kids and dogs, it’s um, it’s horrible," said Chris Daugherty, who lives right next door to the fire.

Crews had to run extensive hoses to reach the house and power was being cut to the home as a precaution.

“The contents inside the home, it was packed, there was a lot of stuff inside of the home," said South Trail Assistant Chief Ben Bengston.

No one else was hurt in the fire, the cause is still under investigation. Crews will be returning later this evening to make sure there are no flare ups at the scene.
