CLEWISTON, Fla. – A motorcyclist has died after a Thursday night crash in Clewiston.
It happened just before 10:00 p.m. Thursday on North Hacienda Street near Bald Cypress Drive.
A Florida Highway Patrol report says 20 year-old Eddie Montalvo died after a car pulled in front of his motorcycle.
Troopers says Montalvo was northbound on Hacienda Street with another vehicle behind him. That's when the driver of a southbound car turned left into Montalvo's path. The motorcycle hit the car and Montalvo was thrown onto the road's shoulder.
The car's driver says the lights from the other vehicle behind the motorcycle prevented him from seeing Montalvo. He has been charged with violating the right of way.
Montalvo was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
