The Collier County Medical Examiner’s Office has determined that human remains discovered Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017 in North Naples, are those of Jacob “Jake” Ruddy.

The Collier County man went missing November 6, 2016. He informed his parents that he was going to the 24 Club off Pine Ridge Road in Naples, and was supposed to meet a friend afterwards.  Ruddy, however, never showed up to meet the friend.

CCSO detectives entered him in state and national missing person databases, publicized the case, checked area hospitals and jails, interviewed witnesses, and followed up on leads but were unable to locate him.

The death investigation is continuing, with CCSO, the Medical Examiner’s Office and members of the Florida Gulf Coast University’s Forensic Anthropology department working to ascertain whether a cause of death can be determined.

The remains were found Sunday night in a wooded area near the 4900 block of Sandra Bay Drive, off Livingston and Immokalee roads.
