Hope for Haiti assessing damages from Hurricane Matthew

NAPLES, Fla. -- Hope for Haiti is actively assessing damage from Hurricane Matthew in Les Cayes, Haiti.  The organization’s staff members have reported significant damage to their homes from the severe wind, torrential rain and flooding.

“Our primary concern at this moment is for the safety of our staff and residents in southern Haiti.  We remain in constant contact with key leaders and partners, assessing damage and formulating our response strategy.  We are actively working with local and international relief organizations to position medicine, medical supplies and relief aid for deployment as soon as conditions permit,” says the organization's COO, Mark Hindley

The organization will begin evaluation for greater response as soon as weather permits.

In addition, the organization is in need of the following medications and supplies for staff and partners:

·       Cholera Medications (Re-Hydration Therapy/ORS, Antibiotics)
·       General Medical/Primary Care Supplies (Gauze, Bandages, General Pain Relievers, etc.)
·       Water Purification Tablets/Filters
·       Personal Hygiene Supplies
·       MRE's or like meals
·       Batteries, Flashlights, Radios
·       Blankets/Tarps
·       Duct tape
