FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. -- Stephen Michael Reynaert of the Fort Myers Beach Fire Department was arrested Thursday for two counts of Custodial Sexual Battery on a minor.
On July 26th, the Marion County Sheriff's Office received a report of a Custodial Sexual Battery which occurred in Lee County.
Detectives of the Lee County Special Victims Unit were contacted and immediately assumed the investigation.
The Mother of the 14-year-old victim reported that over the past year, the suspect, Stephen Michael Reynaert, had been having a sexual relationship with the child. The sexual incidents began when the child was 13-years old and continued until as recently as several weeks ago.
At the conclusion of the investigation, Stephen Michael Reynaert, was located and taken into custody without incident. He will have a first appearance in court Friday morning.
Reynaert has been with the Department for 8 years according to a department report. In 2014, Reynaert was promoted to an engineer.
